'And oft, at evening, passing thro' the town,
Ere yet the ruddy lights their lantern'd play
Have half begun, when every little frown
Is faintly mirror'd in the dying day,
And maidens' eyes with that fair light of May
Are crystal-clear, as to their homes repair
The dainty almoners of dainty fare,
