AD ASTRA: 65 by CHARLES WHITWORTH WYNNE

First Line: HOW BRIEF, HOW FRAIL, THE HIGHEST HUMAN LOVE!
Last Line: DOTH BREAK THE CHILLY SILENCE EVERMORE.
Subject(s): MORTALITY;

How brief, how frail, the highest human love!
Yet constancy in love each mortal craves.
Unless thy trust in God knows no remove,
This life is but a sleep on summer waves—
Rough winds will toss thee to their ocean caves,
Thro' which the bellowing sea with thundrous roar
Doth break the chilly silence evermore.
