AD ASTRA: 66 by CHARLES WHITWORTH WYNNE

First Line: UNTO THE NAKED HEAVENS WE CRY ALOUD
Last Line: YET AT THE LAST THY GLORIOUS LIGHT HAVE HAIL'D!
Subject(s): DEATH; FAITH; DEAD, THE; BELIEF; CREED;

Unto the naked Heavens we cry aloud,
'O Father, give us back our Childhood's faith—
That Faith which sought Thee in the brightening cloud,
And deem'd it but the mirror of Thy breath—
O give us that assurance which in Death
Men have, whom lifelong fears and doubts assail'd
Yet at the last Thy glorious Light have hail'd!
