AD ASTRA: 67 by CHARLES WHITWORTH WYNNE

First Line: OH, WHEN OUR PASSIONATE HEARTS HAVE CEASED TO BEAT
Last Line: HOW MIGHT WE IN THY CLEMENCY CONFIDE?
Subject(s): FORGIVENESS; HEARTS; LOVE; PASSION; CLEMENCY;

'Oh, when our passionate hearts have ceased to beat,
Then only may we feel ourselves secure!
We are not fit to lay us at Thy feet,
Our wills relapse, our frailties endure.
O Lord, unless we felt Thy pardon sure,
Conscious of guilt, of charity denied,
How might we in Thy clemency confide?
