AD ASTRA: 75 by CHARLES WHITWORTH WYNNE

First Line: ONLY TO HEARTS DEVOID OF HUMAN FEELING
Last Line: YET IS MORE PITILESS THAN WINTRY RAIN!
Subject(s): EMOTIONS; FAITH; HEARTS; LOVE; BELIEF; CREED;

Only to hearts devoid of human feeling,
Only to natures cold as thy cold creed,
Can thy trite truths, Philosophy! bring healing,
Can thy poor Faith bind up the wounds that bleed—
The soul is dead that is from suffering freed—
Philosophy would blunt the edge of pain,
Yet is more pitiless than wintry rain!
