THE VISION AND THE QUEST by CHARLES WHITWORTH WYNNE

First Line: A WILL-O-THE-WISP THAT EVER EVADES THE SIGHT
Last Line: WHILST OVER HIS SINKING SHADOW IT DANCES BRIGHT!
Subject(s): SHADOWS;

A WILL-O-THE-WISP that ever evades the sight,
The nearer we get, the blacker grows the night,
And he who would grasp it, grasps but a reedy light,
Whilst over his sinking shadow it dances bright!
