NO WORDS CAN REACH by ELEANOR G. R. YOUNG

First Line: TODAY, THE WORLD IS GAY WITH JEWEL TREES
Last Line: IT CLIMBS A HEIGHT THAT WORDS CAN NEVER REACH!
Subject(s): BEAUTY;

Today, the world is gay with jewel trees.
Each tiny twig is decked in crystal light.
A fairy palace hems me brightly in
A world of hushed and glittering delight.

In the long beds that wait the call of spring.
Dry flower-stems are changed to diamond bars;
And where the lily-pond waits silently,
Blue spruce trees glisten with a million stars.

Colder the day grows as the wind tears by;
A late sun pushes through the sky's gray wall;
The world glows into rosy, sparkling light,
A fairy hush is hovering over all.
Out from some hidden nook, a redbird's wing,
Streaks swift, warm color on the western sky
Beauty is glittering on everything,
Oh, lovely, lacy world, I will not try
To put your icy loveliness in speech.
It climbs a height that words can never reach!
