This is a poem singing in my heart This arch of azure sky Cloud-flecked and still, This summer silence, This unbroken peace, This little world of beauty Where I fill My cup of gladness to the golden brim From early morning till the sun grows dim And sinks, with slow reluctance, Out of sight To make way for the quiet steps of Night. How can one day pour out Such lavish gifts? The song of bright, almost forgotten birds, The lacy flash of insects' fairy wings, The breath of scented flowers Sweeter than words. This is a poem singing in my heart This lovely day, jeweled and set apart! |
