We met that evening at the dance, And some one named us each to each, As strangers who had never met, But lo! as one held in a trance I felt my spirit strive to reach A life on other stages set. I knew I loved you in some past, Hark! clang of arms! A dagger's thrust! The veil rolled off and all was clear, The mystery was solved at last, For I was Lancelot of the joust, And you were lovely Guinevere. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...FAMED DANCER DIES OF PHOSPHORUS POISONING by RICHARD HOWARD ROSE AND MURRAY by CONRAD AIKEN A DANCER'S LIFE by DONALD JUSTICE DANCING WITH THE DOG by SUSAN KENNEDY SONG FROM A COUNTRY FAIR by LEONIE ADAMS THE CHILDREN DANCING by LAURENCE BINYON CHILD OF MARY'S SOUL by SUSIE MONTGOMERY BEST |
