THE SEVEN SISTERS, by NELLIE FORBES GABLE First Line: Demurely sit you there a-row Last Line: The cloud-loved summits of the hills. Subject(s): Beauty; Praise | ||||||||
Demurely sit you there a-row Where nature chose a fitting place, Encompassed oft by misty clouds In tender, lover-like embrace. No wondrous beauty yours to boast, But worth-while comeliness you don, Enhanced by verdure, green and cool And veils of sheer, blue-black chiffon. You temper with your constancy, The ever-changing city near And win the praise of passing hosts "Magnificent," "august" "sincere." While at your feet, o'er pebbles bright, A streamlet flows with purling trills, Proclaiming you, in rhythmic tones The cloud-loved summits of the Hills. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PRAISE PREMATURE by SAMUEL BISHOP ON GIFTS FOR GRACE by BERNADETTE MAYER AFTERTHOUGHTS OF DONNA ELVIRA by CAROLYN KIZER OUR DEATHLESS DEAD by EDWIN MARKHAM SIR JOHN CHIVERTON: DEDICATORY STANZAS. by WILLIAM HARRISON AINSWORTH A BOOK OF AIRS: SONG 12.
