THE SNOW, by REMY DE GOURMONT Poet's Biography First Line: Simone, white as thy throat the snow I see Last Line: My snow, simone, and all my love art thou. Subject(s): Cold; Kisses; Love; Snow | ||||||||
SIMONE, white as thy throat the snow I see, Simone, the snow is white as is thy knee. Simone, thy hand is cold even as the snow, Simone, thy heart is cold even as the snow. The kiss of fire will melt the snow's cold heart, But thine melts only when we kiss to part. The snow is sad on the pine-branches there, Thy brow is sad under its chestnut hair. In the courtyard thy sister snow sleeps now, My snow, Simone, and all my love art thou. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BRIGHT SUN AFTER HEAVY SNOW by JANE KENYON SNOW FALLING THROUGH FOG by WILLIAM MATTHEWS THE SNOW FAIRY by CLAUDE MCKAY NOT ONLY ESKIMOS by LISEL MUELLER |
