GOD'S WILL, by GRACE AVERILL HERRON First Line: God came and took him away Last Line: Till the day comes when we must meet our god. Subject(s): Angels; God; Holy Ghost; Religion; Holy Spirit; Theology | ||||||||
God came and took him away Just at the close of a winter day, Why God came, we do not know For he was needed so much here below. His voice was hushed as the twilight grew near But to meet his master, he had no fear; He has gone now to his heavenly home, And among God's angels he will roam. His work on earth is finished now, And the stillness of death lies on his brow. His form is cold and laid to rest; It is hard to believebut God knows best. His place among us will be hard to fill, For memory of his kindness lingers with us still; The joy of his smile for both young and old, And the happiness it brought, can never be told. Our sorrows are deep and hard to bear, Our hearts are heavy and filled with care; For this uncertain path of life we have trod Till the day comes when we must meet our God. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MYSTIC BOUNCE by TERRANCE HAYES MATHEMATICS CONSIDERED AS A VICE by ANTHONY HECHT UNHOLY SONNET 11 by MARK JARMAN SHINE, PERISHING REPUBLIC by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE COMING OF THE PLAGUE by WELDON KEES A LITHUANIAN ELEGY by ROBERT KELLY RETURN OF SPRING by GRACE AVERILL HERRON FETES GALANTES: ROMANCES SANS PAROLE, SELECTION by PAUL VERLAINE |
