RETURN OF SPRING, by
First Line: Spring is here, the bluebird peals
Last Line: That bloom each year to show us light.
Subject(s): Happiness; Joy; Delight

Spring is here, the bluebird peals;
Winter is gone, the robin feels,
As he hops to the north on a sunshiny day
To build his nest, with his chirp so gay.

The winter's blasts have all passed on,
The frost in the air is almost gone;
The first sign of spring is already here,
For the pussywillow bud, to us so near.

The crocus and jonquils are blooming, too,
The lilac buds are bursting anew;
The grass has turned to a carpet of green,
And everywhere the signs of spring are seen.

There's a feeling of joy that makes us sing,
Which no other season of the year can bring;
The glories of spring can best be told
As we watch each little leaf bud unfold.

They are waking from their winter's sleep
And are eager now to take a peep
At this grand old world where they live and die
When summer wanes and leaves us with a sigh.

The tiny faces of the violets so blue,
Are springing forth, all wet with dew,
To give the children a thrill each day,
As they gather them eagerly, gleefully gay.

The frogs and crickets are singing their notes
As they hop about with brand new coats;
The hoot owl is heard, in the distance at night
And the katydids we hear, though not in sight.

The soft breezes blow and we know spring is here,
And with it sweet memories which to us are dear;
And may our pathways be strewn with flowers so bright
That bloom each year to show us light.
