NEEDLES ROAD, by
First Line: Lost on a winding roadway
Last Line: And the curve of needles road!
Subject(s): Mountains; Roads; Hills; Downs (great Britain); Paths; Trails

Lost on a winding roadway,
Drunk with the scent of pine,
A flaming sun retiring
And all the world is mine!
Up from the sleepy valley,
I pass an eagle's nest,
With agile step and daring
To a mountain's shaggy crest!
With azure tones above me
And granite spires below,
That cradle aching beauty
Mere words can never show,
I pause, with heart uplifted,
A chalice overflowed,
Marked by a lyric silence
And the curve of Needles Road!
