WHITE BIRCHES, by EMILY MEGOW First Line: Against the gray of dreary winter skies Last Line: The hope of all mankind, o easter trees. Subject(s): Birch Trees | ||||||||
Against the gray of dreary winter skies, Like ghosts of summer days, the birches rise, And memories spring with gentle, half-sweet pain Of happiness that may not come again; But with white birches shining through the gloom A promise comes of spring's return and bloom; Courage they give, for neither wind nor snow Can dim their loveliness or lay them low; Dauntless they stand throughout the stress of storm, Still gleaming, white, unscathed, untouched, untorn. Dear gallant trees, within thy life one sees The hope of all mankind, O Easter trees. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE YOUNG BIRCH by ROBERT FROST THE TURNING OF THE LEAVES by VERNON WATKINS TO A BIRCH TREE by KENNETH SLADE ALLING WHITE BIRCHES by MARY BRADLEY BRAMHALL |
