First Line: A rhythm is beating in the universe
Last Line: A rhythm is beating.

A rhythm is beating in the universe
Through sky and earth and cell forever fleeting,
The secrets of its cycle none may pierce --
A rhythm is beating.

And life within its pulse-beat now is meeting
To claim its own, impetuous and fierce,
With hand to hand and heart to heart in greeting;

The weary soul its being may immerse
In dreamed-of harmony, desire completing,
And small cocoon its light throb intersperse --
A rhythm is beating.
