LOVE, by EMMA SPECHT PRATT First Line: Love is like the stars of heaven Last Line: Fulfills its final call. Subject(s): Love | |||
Love is like the stars of heaven, So sparkling, bright and fair. It is the one thing earthly That crowns the life we share. The darkest cloud is brightened, It sends no shadowed tide, Its fullness fills our bosom. Its glory we do not hide. Love is that the lone heart wants; It is ours to give at will. Our thoughts, our songs and day dreams Love every moment fill. When at last death shadows Around us creep and fall, Love, in its fullest measure, Fulfills its final call. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE INVENTION OF LOVE by MATTHEA HARVEY TWO VIEWS OF BUSON by ROBERT HASS A LOVE FOR FOUR VOICES: HOMAGE TO FRANZ JOSEPH HAYDN by ANTHONY HECHT AN OFFERING FOR PATRICIA by ANTHONY HECHT LATE AFTERNOON: THE ONSLAUGHT OF LOVE by ANTHONY HECHT A SWEETENING ALL AROUND ME AS IT FALLS by JANE HIRSHFIELD TIME FOR PRAYER by EMMA SPECHT PRATT THEY PRAISE THE SUN by JOHN CROWE RANSOM THIRD BOOK OF AIRS: SONG 27.
