NOW who is he with lofty mien
That down the street doth ride? —
Nor bugle's note, nor banner's sheen,
To tell of power or pride.

His brow no kingly crown displays
His breast no jeweled star;
Yet Russ and Tartar reverent gaze —
The Czar! God save the Czar!
