PERHAPS, by HAZEL FRYE SCHWENTKER First Line: He spoke of sound-thin waves of sound Last Line: The men of galilee! Subject(s): God; Jesus Christ - Life And Ministry; Radio; Sound | ||||||||
He spoke of soundthin waves of sound That fill the vibrant air; Of how the ear of man is tuned To catch what it can bear. And, then, he said, "The mind of man, With curious intent, Has gone beyond the simple laws That rule the firmament, And in its flight beyond the clouds Where stars and comets go, The mind of man, with keen delight, Invented radio." The ear of man attuned to catch A clear celestial strain, May gather back on waves of sound Some precious lost refrain; May reach beyond the silent stars That guard the purple sea, And catch the voice of Him who taught The Men of Galilee! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A SOUND IS LIKE ANY OTHER by DAVID IGNATOW NATURAL MUSIC by ROBINSON JEFFERS CHAMBER MUSIC: 35 by JAMES JOYCE WHAT THE MOTORCYCLE SAID by MONA VAN DUYN THE LIFE OF TOWNS: TOWN OF THE DRAGON VEIN by ANNE CARSON CALIBAN [ON THE ISLAND], FR.
