HOPE, by ERNESTINE RENEE (WHITE) SELLIER First Line: My days are tempered by your smile Last Line: My heart this rapture deep allows. Subject(s): Happiness; Hope; Joy; Delight; Optimism | ||||||||
My days are tempered by your smile, Your gentle glance my fate decides, So may they linger, all the while, The hours this earth with heav'n divides! We have not counted, since we met, The miles our happy feet have trod -- The tender hopes my heart beset Are like the buds on Aaron's rod: Green buds that cannot fade with time -- Persuaded to eternal spring, Defying winter's frosted rime -- The lovely paean hope shall sing! Sweet hope whose ray the cloud has torn, Whose beauty all the world endows: The light of love your eyes have borne, My heart this rapture deep allows. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HOPE IS NOT FOR THE WISE by ROBINSON JEFFERS SONNET by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SONNET: 9.
