BLIND, by MYRTA ALBERTSON WELLS First Line: Never again shall the light of the dawn Last Line: Piercing the gloom and dispelling the mist. | |||
Never again shall the light of the dawn Startle my eyes as it dapples the lawn, Nor sunset, enfolding its wings for the night; Yet only my eyes have been lost to the light. Hearing soft music my senses are still, Caught in the fragrance of blossoms that thrill. Pulses may quicken in hearing the rain, Slanting the distance to my window pane. Cool wind can lighten and freshen my soul, Giving me vision to seek a new goal. Childlike I learn all my lessons anew, Either by touch or the guidance of you. Knowledge may come from all things that exist, Piercing the gloom and dispelling the mist. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ON CHRISTMAS NIGHT by MYRTA ALBERTSON WELLS A DROP OF DEW by ANDREW MARVELL HYMN TO THE WINDS by JOACHIM DU BELLAY TRICKSTERS by WILLIAM ROSE BENET UNEASY PEACE by EDMUND CHARLES BLUNDEN THE OLD COWPUNCHER SPEAKS by BERTON BRALEY TO HIS MISTRESS RETIRING IN AFFECTION by THOMAS CAREW THE CASTLE OF BONCOURT by ADELBERT VON CHAMISSO |
