LIVING WATER, by RUTH M. WILLIAMS First Line: He must needs go through samaria Last Line: Their thirst unto him bring. Subject(s): Jesus Christ | ||||||||
He must needs go through Samaria, He who held the waters of the sea In His hand, sat weary and thirsty By earthly well, waiting expectantly. Came a woman of Samaria; She from whom no Jew would think Of asking favor, Jesus honored By gently asking for a drink. She came with empty waterpot, She left with sparkling wells Of water springing up within That shame and terror quells. She came with emptier heart and soul And head bowed low in shame, She left with hope and sprightly step To spread abroad His fame. Christ offers living water still From that exhaustless spring That empties not, though millions Their thirst unto Him bring. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE GREEN CHRIST by ANDREW HUDGINS MEDITATION ON SAVIORS by ROBINSON JEFFERS COMPANIONSHIP by MALTBIE DAVENPORT BABCOCK TO A WREN ON CALVARY by LARRY LEVIS THE TRANSFIGURATION by EDWIN MUIR SOUNDS OF THE RESURRECTED DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS (#3): 1.
