SURRENDER, by KATHERINE KELLY WOODLEY First Line: You are the stars, beloved, my moon and sun Last Line: No will, no inclination to resist. Subject(s): Life | ||||||||
You are the stars, Beloved, my moon and sun, My land and water, darkness, light and air, All life was drab until you made it fair ... Made life and love with beauty subtly one, Unconscious of the glory just begun With knowing you. Now I no longer care For any thing in which you do not share. Alas for me! This thing that you have done Renders me deaf and dumb and wholly blind To everything in which you have no part.. In my devotion only I exist. Yours is my body, soul and quailing mind. I have no eyes, nor lips nor ears nor heart -- No will, no inclination to resist. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PRIVILEGE OF BEING by ROBERT HASS SEAWATER STIFFENS CLOTH by JANE HIRSHFIELD SAYING YES TO LIVING by DAVID IGNATOW THE WORLD IS SO DIFFICULT TO GIVE UP by DAVID IGNATOW MAIDEN LADY by KATHERINE KELLY WOODLEY |
