A boy upon a Shetland pony, (Sing, bonny bluebird, sing!) Is riding down a lane of maples To high adventuring. Within the meadow may be danger, But this lad doesn't care -- When summer winds are calling to him, A lad rides anywhere. Within the forest may be pirates (Who knows?) in secret caves; But no brave lad of seven's ever Afraid of daring knaves. This rider has a heart that's valiant; (Hush, bluebird, your refrain!)
