FRAGMENT by THOMAS LOVELL BEDDOES

Poet Analysis

First Line: A VEINED PETAL CLOSES OVER
Last Line: IN THE MOON'S VISIONARY SMILE.

A veinèd petal closes over
A dewy spark
Ere Eve is dark,
And starry fireflies flit and hover,
Dreams of the Rose,
O'er it repose;
So bend thy head, and sleep awhile
In the Moon's visionary smile.
