FOG by INA LADD BROWN

First Line: ONLY A DIM LIGHT GLEAMING HERE AND THERE
Last Line: AS THOUGH GOD, TOO, WERE LOST FROM SIGHT
Subject(s): FOG; GHOSTS; MIST; SUPERNATURAL; HAZE;

Only a dim light gleaming here and there
Through mist that shrouds each spire and tree,
And in the way before me, ghostly pale,
A wall through which I cannot see.

Housetops held in a stifling gray embrace --
A clutching hold that fills the night;
A weirdness falling on my very soul,
As though God, too, were lost from sight
