WE GO ON by NELLIE MANLEY BUCK

First Line: LITTLE KNOWING THE ROAD AHEAD
Last Line: WE GO ON -- DOWN THE TRAIL.

Little knowing the road ahead,
Remembering only the gay laughter,
The songs by the wayside;
The beauty we have glimpsed
And the friends we have known;
The golden dawns, not the grey ones;
The evening stars that have beckoned
To places we have never found;
The gorgeous sunsets that have left
The richness of their afterglow
All down the years --
We go on -- down the trail.
