A FATE-RIDDEN WOMAN by HERMAN J. D. CARTER

First Line: CLINGING TO HONOR WITH ONE HAND
Last Line: IS A FATE-RIDDEN WOMAN.
Subject(s): PROSTITUTION; HARLOTS; WHORES; BROTHELS;

Clinging to honor with one hand;
But wasting it with the other,—
Wasting it on worthless beings
In the prime of her sweet life;
Selling her soul for a silver coin,
Caring not for that happiness
Which she craves,
Is a fate-ridden woman.
