PRIMITIVE by KATHARINE MURDOCH DAVIS

First Line: OH WE HAVE WORSHIPPED WATER
Last Line: AND SKYWARD LEAPS WITH FLAME.
Subject(s): DESIRE;

Oh we have worshipped water
And we have worshipped fire,
For there is something in us
More moving than desire,

Something without a country,
Something without a name,
Which seaward flows with rivers
And skyward leaps with flame.
