BOLIVAR; AT THE PANTHEON, CARACAS by EDNA DEAN PROCTOR

First Line: BOLIVAR! VENEZUELA BRINGS
Last Line: THE BULWARK OF THY NATIVE LAND.
Subject(s): BOLIVAR, SIMON (1783-1830); CARACAS, VENEZUELA;

BOLÍVAR! Venezuela brings
To thee her richest offerings;
But bounds are not for fame like thine —
The continent is still thy shrine;
Yea, North and South through thee are one,
Thou peer and heir of Washington!

And while La Guayra's vale is fair
And Ávila climbs proud in air,
While Maracaibo's mirror glows
And Orinoco seaward flows
Thy name, thy glorious deeds shall stand,
The bulwark of thy native land.
