REVELATION by WILLIAM WATSON

Poet Analysis

First Line: WHEN ALL THE CHORIC PEAL SHALL END
Last Line: GOD MAY EMERGE AT LAST.
Subject(s): FAITH; GOD; MANKIND; BELIEF; CREED; HUMAN RACE;

WHEN all the choric peal shall end,
That through the fanes hath rung;
When the long lauds no more ascend
From man's adoring tongue;

When whelmed are altar, priest, and creed;
When all the faiths have passed;
Perhaps, from darkening incense freed,
God may emerge at last.
