HUSH OF TWILIGHT, by G. KENYON ASHENDEN First Line: After the sun goes down Last Line: All destiny is cast. Subject(s): Day; Evening; Light; Night; Sunset; Twilight; Bedtime | |||
After the sun goes down, Before the pall of night Can settle over the town, There is a peaceful light. When the day is dying We scarcely hear its breath, And yet there is a sighing Before the hour of death. Though night is always born With each departing day, It, too, at break of morn Will pass upon its way. Quietness of the twilight, Praise for the day that's past, While out beyond the starlight, All destiny is cast. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BREATH OF NIGHT by RANDALL JARRELL HOODED NIGHT by ROBINSON JEFFERS NIGHT WITHOUT SLEEP by ROBINSON JEFFERS WORKING OUTSIDE AT NIGHT by DENIS JOHNSON POEM TO TAKE BACK THE NIGHT by JUNE JORDAN COOL DARK ODE by DONALD JUSTICE POEM TO BE READ AT 3 A.M by DONALD JUSTICE ROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT by BOB KAUFMAN HELEN, THE SAD QUEEN by PAUL VALERY |
