THE PASQUE FLOWER, by STELLA PFEIFFER BAISCH First Line: Anemone of purple hue Last Line: Sweet, modest wind-flower of the plain. Subject(s): Easter; Flowers; Holidays; The Resurrection | |||
Anemone of purple hue, Emerging from the grasses brown, Has come to make her spring debut In furry mantled, satin gown. She loiters not for leaf nor bower A proper setting to prepare; At Easter time our brave pasque flower Arrives to grace the season rare. She comes, the vanguard of the year, Amid the hillside grasses sear, With golden heart, in sun or rain Sweet, modest wind-flower of the plain. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...EASTER EVE by FRANCIS WILLIAM BOURDILLON EASTER SUNDAY by LUCILLE CLIFTON GOD SEND EASTER by LUCILLE CLIFTON NOT THE CUCKOLD'S DREAM; FOR SAM PEREIRA by NORMAN DUBIE EASTER HYMN by GEORGE SANTAYANA I DEFINE THE DARKNESS CORRECT: THE FESTIVAL OF THE FRERES LUMIERES by ELENI SIKELIANOS SPANISH EASTER: 1926 by CONRAD AIKEN HOARFROST by STELLA PFEIFFER BAISCH |
