In the Minnesota North Woods Gushes forth the Father Water. Rolling on through Lake Itasca, Rushing on, forever flowing. Carving ridges, cliffs, and gulleys, Carrying with it silt and limestone; To the great Atlantic Ocean. Reservoir of all the waters. Winding Mississippi River, Leaping rocks, and hills, and ledges, Into magic falls and rapids, Where the white man gets the power To promote the source of living. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...RIVERS INTO SEAS by LYNDA HULL TO A WOMAN GLANCING UP FROM THE RIVER by LARRY LEVIS TWO-RIVER LEDGER by KHALED MATTAWA HE FINDS THE MANSION by JAMES MCMICHAEL THE RIVERS by CLARIBEL ALEGRIA VERMILION FLYCATCHER, SAN PEDRO RIVER, ARIZONA by MARGARET ATWOOD THE PORCH OVER THE RIVER by WENDELL BERRY THE RIVER BRIDGED AND FORGOT by WENDELL BERRY 1914: 3.
