GOOD-BYE, by WILFRID SCAWEN BLUNT Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: Fools! Must we ever quarrel with our fate Last Line: "good-bye." Subject(s): Farewell; Parting | ||||||||
FOOLS! must we ever quarrel with our fate, Too late Reading the worth of what we did despise, And wise At the journey's end to weep it scarce begun When done? No more! 'Tis ever the same story told As of old. Children, we used to wish our childhood past: At last It ended, as this journey ends, and we Are free. Shall we lament? It were an idle tale To wail. Can we be wise? Oh wisdom comes too late, And fate Answers our wicked prayer for liberty: "Good-bye." | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE THREE CHILDREN by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN STUDY #2 FOR B.B.L. by JUNE JORDAN WATCHING THE NEEDLEBOATS AT SAN SABBA by JAMES JOYCE SESTINA: TRAVEL NOTES by WELDON KEES ESTHER; A YOUNG MAN'S TRAGEDY: 50 by WILFRID SCAWEN BLUNT ESTHER; A YOUNG MAN'S TRAGEDY: 51 by WILFRID SCAWEN BLUNT THE LOVE SONNETS OF PROTEUS: 110.
