Gandy dancers sleep all night.
They creep wearily to their creaking double-bunks
in the little old red freight cars on the siding.
They sleep, but never dream, for what do they know of songs and beauty?
All a gandy dancer wants is a full belly and a little love and sleep.
Creator of the cold smooth silver bands,
but he wouldn't know ...
