WHY?, by
First Line: Chill fall nights with a harvest moon -
Last Line: And I shall quite forget you -- soon.
Subject(s): Absence; Memory; Separation; Isolation

Chill fall nights with a harvest moon --
Do you hear the call of the loon?
The heavy smells of ripened grain
And of grapes on the vine remain --
But you -- why did you go away?
Why? And why do I wait, you say?
Such nights pass -- and the harvest moon, --
And I shall quite forget you -- soon.
