DAY IS DONE, by CHARLES V. CALDWELL First Line: The day is done; the twilight shadows fall Last Line: And watch its shadows fall, content, as I do now. Subject(s): Contentment | ||||||||
The day is done; the twilight shadows fall Across the way, as night comes creeping on. I sit before the fire and watch the embers die Content with the way I spent the passing hours. Life passes on: the swiftly fleeting days Compel a pause, as life's sunset glow appears; I only hope that I may see the end approach And watch its shadows fall, content, as I do now. | Discover our poem explanations - click here!Other Poems of Interest...PARTHENOPHE: SONNET 66 by BARNABE BARNES I UNCOIL MYSELF AND LIE STRAIGHT OUT by DAVID IGNATOW WITHOUT RECRIMINATION by DAVID IGNATOW EVENTIDE by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL by DORIANNE LAUX TO TWO UNKNOWN LADIES by AMY LOWELL THE SKELETON OF THE FUTURE; AT LENIN'S TOMB by CHRISTOPHER MURRAY GRIEVE |
