Breakers insistent, massive, persistent—
Thunder the grandeur of life;
Gaining momentum, starkly resistant,
Nature unleashed—and at strife.

Unbaffled, receding, leaving a seaboard
Tidewashed, but flooded with light;
Sighing, unheeding, weaving a D chord,
Rollers—far out in the night.
