First Line: Tell me, shepherd, tell me, pray
Last Line: Echo waits upon her lover.
Subject(s): Mythology

A. Tell me, shepherd, tell me, pray,
Whose the trees set all a-row?
B. Olives, -- Pallas' care are they;
Vines around for Bromius grow.
A. Whose the corn? the flowers whose?
Name a God to each demesne.
B. This Demeter loves: and those
Hera, with the Paphian Queen,
Aphrodite, called The Rose.
A. Pan, dear Pan, with me remain;
Touch the pipes and run them over;
Somewhere in this sunny plain
Echo waits upon her lover.
