KINSHIP, by ETHEL M. DAMMRICH First Line: With these my soul claims kinship Last Line: While it's scorched with inner strife. Subject(s): Worship | ||||||||
With these my soul claims kinship Being touched by each in turn, Daily lighting life's tall taper, Which in worship I let burn. The depth of bursting sunrise Enriched by neighboring cloud. The joyous trill of birdsong Gently touched by sorrow's shroud. The purging glare of high noon Faded into swiftly passing. The sunset hues more brilliant When twilight shades come massing. The distant star brought closer With the blackness of the night. The deeper dark of early morn Ere the coming of new light. With these my soul claims kinship As it vagabonds through life; Feigning often pure contentment While it's scorched with inner strife. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...COMPANIONSHIP by MALTBIE DAVENPORT BABCOCK FOR I WILL CONSIDER YOUR DOG MOLLY by DAVID LEHMAN RUSSIAN CATHEDRAL by CLAUDE MCKAY LITTLE WHITE CHURCH by MARILYN NELSON A STEEPLE ON THE HOUSE by ROBERT FROST MATE (1) by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON ANSWER TO PRAYER by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON THE TEN COMMANDMENTS by GEORGE SANTAYANA |
