MY SHATTERED DREAMS, by C. CELESTE DE SILVA First Line: The dream of my life has been shattered Last Line: And god may there on them smile. Subject(s): Dreams; Pain; Tears; Nightmares; Suffering; Misery | ||||||||
The dream of my life has been shattered By cruel and heartless fate. My soul seems weak and forlorn, And nothing my pain can abate. But what is one poor blasted dream In the scheme of things here below? I must not lose faith in mankind, But must find fresh courage to go. With untarnished hope through the years That are left to me here on earth. Must dry my futile tears, Must show my soul's true worth. Perchance these poor shattered dreams, If they have been worthwhile, May be made whole again in heaven, And God may there on them smile. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PARTHENOPHIL AND PARTHENOPHE: MADRIGAL 14 by BARNABE BARNES SONNETS IN SHADOWS: 1 by ARLO BATES IN PRAISE OF PAIN by HEATHER MCHUGH THE SYMPATIZERS by JOSEPHINE MILES LEEK STREET by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR PROSIT NEUJAHR by GEORGE SANTAYANA |
