Subject(s): Home

I walked the little road with eager feet;
The meadow daisies nodded fresh and sweet.
I saw my little rose-clad cottage white,
Where whippoorwills called through the dusky night.

This little rose-clad cottage, my abode,
Nestled close beside the winding road,
The loveliest place in all this world I know,
Where stately hollyhocks and sunflowers grow.

The woodland roses down the pasture lane,
Seemed new and lovelier since the recent rain.
I was contented never more to roam,
And I was thankful for my country home.
