A bright new church for God they made Of rosy brick and sturdy frame. Against its walls the children played A handball game. The dear God seemed not one whit riled Nor seared them with a glance of fire. I rather think He must have smiled, A still umpire. But they who made the church grew grim And at the playing children glared; Forbade them in the name of Him.
