THE LITTLE PATH, by SALLIE P. FITZHUGH First Line: It winds across a little hill Last Line: To the haven of my heart. Subject(s): Mountains; Hills; Downs (great Britain) | ||||||||
It winds across a little hill And through a meadow green, And wanders by a shady brook, O'er which the willows lean. The violets plead, "Oh, linger here." The robins cry, "Please wait." But the path runs on until it stops Beside a little gate. Though travel-stained and worn with time, 'Tis of my life a part, Each night I follow it back agin To the haven of my heart. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...CALIFORNIA SORROW: MOUNTAIN VIEW by MARY KINZIE CONTRA MORTEM: THE MOUNTAIN FASTNESS by HAYDEN CARRUTH GREEN MOUNTAIN IDYL by HAYDEN CARRUTH IF IT WERE NOT FOR YOU by HAYDEN CARRUTH |
