YOUTH, by IDA M. FORREST First Line: Youth is not a time of life Last Line: At the joy such living brings. Subject(s): Aging; Youth | ||||||||
Youth is not a time of life Measured by the years, The young are often aged By sorrow and tears. Youth is but a state of mind, Measured by ideals; Those old in years are often young, The game of life reveals. Wrinkles in the face appear, Painted by the years, But wrinkles etched upon the soul Are put there by our fears. Faith and hope will keep us young, Courage kills despair, Time cannot take the toll of years If enthusiasm's there. So hold fast to your ideals, Fill your life with worth-while things, So that in the end we marvel At the joy such living brings. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BETWEEN THE WARS by ROBERT HASS THE GOLDEN SHOVEL by TERRANCE HAYES ALONG WITH YOUTH by ERNEST HEMINGWAY THE BLACK RIVIERA by MARK JARMAN |
