YOU, by ROSE FORTE First Line: You came into my life and brought the sunshine Last Line: You took the brightness when you went away. Subject(s): Flowers; Happiness; Life; Love; Joy; Delight | ||||||||
You came into my life and brought the sunshine, You swung the carolling song-birds in the trees, Painted the wayside flowers a new design And scattered perfume on the evening breeze. Dashed the gold and purple in the sunset, Enhanced each pearl that from the ocean sprays, Brought me sweet joy I never can forget: One happy thrill throughout the live-long days. You made the silent lake a little bluer, The mountain rills to laugh with greater glee, You even made me think that love was truer, Each time those smiling eyes shone back at me. There's nothing now, but shadows grim and gray; -- You took the brightness when you went away. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE STUDY OF HAPPINESS by KENNETH KOCH SO MUCH HAPPINESS by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE CROWD CONDITIONS by JOHN ASHBERY I WILL NOT BE CLAIMED by MARVIN BELL THE BOOK OF THE DEAD MAN (#21): 1.
