Gay little lily
Peeping through the sod --
Was it just yesterday
We planted your pod?

Where did you get
That bright coat of green?
And your hat of crimson --
What does it mean?

The lily replied
With a wise little nod:
"My beauty is speechless;
Its language is God!"
