TO AN ADORED ONE, by JULIA A. FRENCH First Line: There is no word expressing fragile charm Last Line: And falls a breathless poem at your feet. Subject(s): Poetry & Poets | ||||||||
There is no word expressing fragile charm, But breaks to dust at my hand's clumsy weight. Thought is a fugitive -- I desecrate The bluest blue of veining in your arm With offer of the blue a gentian knows. A sensuous ache throbs on through my prayer, And I would hold you closely, did I dare, With no care how the world would have us go. I will not let those wings of our old dreams Weigh down with tears that they no longer beat. My adoration runs through little themes And falls a breathless poem at your feet. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ENVY OF OTHER PEOPLE'S POEMS by ROBERT HASS THE NINETEENTH CENTURY AS A SONG by ROBERT HASS THE FATALIST: TIME IS FILLED by LYN HEJINIAN OXOTA: A SHORT RUSSIAN NOVEL: CHAPTER 192 by LYN HEJINIAN LET ME TELL YOU WHAT A POEM BRINGS by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA JUNE JOURNALS 6/25/88 by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA FOLLOW ROZEWICZ by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA HAVING INTENDED TO MERELY PICK ON AN OIL COMPANY, THE POEM GOES AWRY by HICOK.
