SPRINGING UP, by RICHARD SOLOMON GEDNEY Poet's Biography First Line: Softly o'er my anguish stealing Last Line: Like a choir of angels singing! Subject(s): Happiness; Hearts; Love; Joy; Delight | ||||||||
Softly o'er my anguish stealing, Sweet heart-echoes sigh, revealing That this woe is not past healing! Round my heart soft glances twining, In my soul an image shrining, Driveth far all care and pining! All my life and mind are growing To that dear face, heaven-glowing, O'er my heart new radiance throwing! Can I e'er forget when seeing First that rare and radiant being, At her voice all sorrow fleeing? Wordless, motionless, but drinking Love-draughts from her star-eyes, thinking How my soul to hers was linking, I sat gazing, nothing heeding Aught of earth except time's speeding, Through her eyes her pure soul reading! And the music of her voice crept Nestling to my heart, and there slept, While beneath the joy that heart leapt! Through my soul that voice still thrilling, With new thoughts that soul is filling, Every pain and sorrow stilling! To my heart that voice still clinging, Ever through that heart is ringing, Like a choir of angels singing! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE STUDY OF HAPPINESS by KENNETH KOCH SO MUCH HAPPINESS by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE CROWD CONDITIONS by JOHN ASHBERY I WILL NOT BE CLAIMED by MARVIN BELL THE BOOK OF THE DEAD MAN (#21): 1.
